Tea & Honey, Good to Kill Bacteria

Not many realize that regular tea drinking tradition is the ancient British people have a good effect on health. The latest research released earlier in March providing solutions that mix the green tea and honey are proven effective to reduce disease-causing bacteria (pathogens) in the meat we consume.
"The results of our research showed a mixture of jasmine tea and green tea and honey or honey has a high microbial activity," explained research leader Daniel Fung, a professor from Kansas State University.

The study was conducted in a liquid medium tea extract and honey are shown to decrease the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes and E. coli O157: H7. Listeria is a harmful bacteria found in raw milk, ice cream, soft cheeses, raw fish and meat / smoke. In liquid medium, so it was easy to interact with components of the organism.

Researchers are also examining the solid food, which includes species that are difficult to find the medium of reaction components that prevent the development of pathogenic bacteria.
In this research, the researchers used thin slices of turkey breast meat, which was given a mixture of jasmine tea and honey-thick, the result is the level of the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes by 10 to 20 percent, the same percentage was also found when a mixture of tea and honey are used to hot dogs. The highest reduction levels found in hot dogs containing sodium lactate, potassium lactate and sodium diacetate

"In that kind of hot dog mixture and honey tea can suppress the growth of pathogens, compared to hot dogs that do not contain these components," Fung said, adding that the hot dog is still experiencing a reduction of pathogens after 14 days of pecobaan.

For reasons of health Fung recommend tea as a beverage that should be consumed every day, especially for those who like to eat meat and raw vegetables for obtaining alloys include tea and honey when you process the food to be eaten raw.

"Get used to using the tea and honey when washing raw meat to get rid of foreign components that are harmful to health. And it would be better if you use natural materials instead of using lactic acid," Fung added, as quoted from Newswise, Friday (02/07). (newswise / rit)
